1. About the posted data

For the methods of each survey please see each survey detail page.

2. About data management

The published data is scheduled to be updated about once a year, and the latest data that can be published is posted.

3. How to use the data

When using the downloaded data and charts, please check the items described in the notes and the site policy.

■ Radio button
When wishing to narrow down the target data, click "checkbox" in the filter. It will then be reflected in the data.

■ Multiple selection method
By clicking while holding down the "ctrl" key, you can apply multiple filters to the data.

■ Scroll bar
By sliding "cursor mark" while clicking, you can narrow down the scope to the indicated period.

■ Dropdown list
By clicking the "filter box", you can select a list of filters.

4. Terminology

Survey on the Number of Visitors at Tourism Spots, etc.

This is the number of tourists who have visited Tokyo. Based on the Japan Tourism Agency's common standards the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has surveyed and estimated.

Regardless of the purpose of tourism or business, the term means facilities that can attract tourists, or are the focal point for tourism activities. However, the following sites are excluded from the scope: sites that are mostly used for ordinary purposes and sites that are mostly used by passers-by.

Events consist of festivals and events. Festivals refer to historical events, festivals, local performing arts, etc. that are held on a regular basis and have been passed down through traditions and customs in the lives of local residents.
Events refer to expos, trade fairs, conventions, etc. held at a permanent or specially-installed venue.

A person who travels to a place outside the area of daily life and whose stay there is not for the purpose of earning a reward. In this survey, people who visited tourism-related facilities and participated in tourism events are regarded as inbound tourists.

In the classification of tourism spots, etc., categories, subcategories, and sub-subcategories are used from the viewpoint of data management and user convenience.
For the classification table, please refer to the Japan Tourism Agency's "Common Criteria for Statistics on Inbound Tourists" (P. 16).

Survey on the Number of Visitors to Tokyo Using Mobile Data

They represent statistical information on populations created using NTT DOCOMO's mobile phone network.

Survey on Awareness of Tourism Among Tokyo Citizens

In the surveys, before COVID-19 refers to 2019 or before, and after COVID-19 refers to 2020 and after.

Survey on the Status of Inbound Tourists on the Izu Islands and Ogasawara Islands

It is the number of people who have visited either of the target islands. The figures include not only tourists but also residents and visitors for business purposes.
